Our History

SecuritySource_VanR.White_-150x150 Security Source has an over 60-year ancestry, which has provided a solid foundation in both physical and electronic security.

In 1949, Van R. White started Albuquerque Safe Company. Van sold safes out of the trunk of his car representing Major Safe Company to businesses in the Albuquerque area.

In 1957, Van Opened his first showroom at 5202 Constitution in Albuquerque New Mexico.

In 1959, Van moved the showroom to 2324 Central NE, (Central and Cornell). Mr. White began representing additional brands of safes. During this time the store was vandalized by protesters during the Viet Nam war conflict.

As a result of the riots, in 1972, Mr. White moved his safe showroom to 815 San Mateo SE again expanding his offering of safes and vaults.

In 1977, Mr. White moved his showroom to 7401 Indian School Rd. NE across from Winrock Center. Here Mr. White expanded his safe offering to include bank equipment and locksmith services.

SecuritySource_KevinL.Mayer_-150x150 In 1988, Kevin L. Mayer purchased Albuquerque Safe Company. Mr. Mayer began expanding the company to offer Electronic Security in addition to an expanded offering of physical security equipment. Mr. Mayer also changed the name to Albuquerque Safe & Alarm to reflect the addition of electronic security systems.

In 1993, Mr. Mayer moved the company and the showroom to 3204 Candelaria NE in Albuquerque. During the next several years, Albuquerque Safe & Alarm continued its expansion into more advanced electronic special systems selling to larger and more sophisticated customer base.

In 2000, Albuquerque Safe & Alarm changed its name to Security Source to reflect a wider range of security product and service offerings. In addition, the company moved to its current location expanding its administrative offices, warehouse and showroom.

From 2005 to Today, Security Source opened branch offices in Utah, Nevada, and Texas.

Today, our New Mexico showroom offers some of the most innovative items and largest selection of security and safety related products in the United States. With our well-trained installation and service professionals, Security Source, Inc. remains the premier security and life safety systems provider in the Southwest.

thelogo4 In 2000, Mr. Mayer formed a separate corporation called Integrated Controls USA. This company was formed to offer advanced and enterprise class security and building automation systems to government and industrial customers.

Over the next decade, Integrated Controls USA, Inc. expanded to offer building automation, fire systems, perimeter systems, communication systems, data management, energy management and constant commissioning.

In 2013, Integrated Controls USA, Inc. changed its name to intraworks to reflect this expanded offering of products and services.
